Ek Behoort aan die See II

A piece of seaweed collected by an eight-year-old on the beach inspired a group of works related to the oceans. As the singer-songwriter, Deon Meiring, is also from a small seaside town, I could not prevent his beautiful love song, “Ek Behoort aan die See”, from immediately taking up residence in my mental playlist. And so, a fine trace of a second piece of seaweed was added to the collages of screenprints and cyanotypes, by sculpting the lyrics of his song from the tiniest of text.
