A closeup of this character filled Silver Tree captured in shimmery watercolour with flowing lines and subtlety of colour were chosen to create a feeling of freshness and calm and to hopefully inspire the viewer to marvel at the inspiring design in creation. This old yet dwarfed specimen of the endangered indigenous Silver Tree moved the artist to contemplation of various themes of struggle, a sense of place or belonging as it is endemic to a very small area on the eastern slope of Table Mountain, and due to its being very difficult to propagate, this means that most specimens in our country are growing where they are due to the huge effort and will of people. It also speaks to the artist of seasons as this tree shimmers beautifully in summer and really shows off with its interesting seeds yet appears quite dull in winter seasons.
