This is a study of our local swimming spot, where the swirling rush of rollers plasters the beach with white and blue! I used the subject matter as a way of understanding my layering of oils; and simplifying of form and texture–in a way that finds a balance between the superficial illusion of the subject matter, and the reality of the paint. I am intrigued by this tension and play between the medium and subject–how these ebb and flow. The Eastern Cape beaches, likewise, is a playground of blue and white delight!
