I was travelling along the Longtom pass in Mpumalanga and the Madonna lilies are blooming all over the place and are so beautiful. The story goes that the first one in this area was planted by Oom…? They are not indigenous but they grow side by side, without seemingly negatively impacting, indigenous wild flowers. They are luminous and take one’s breath away. I thought about Eden. The fact that Eden isn’t necessarily a place but a state of mind that expands and changes. Although we are not necessarily indigenous, we can bloom and be luminous and beautiful where we are planted. This speaks of Eden to me.
