Looking Up

This watercolour captures the calm yet strong lines of the Silver Tree with washes and ink in a shimmery blue. This tree is indigenous and naturally endemic to only the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, which is such a small area. They are very hardy trees that look like their foliage shimmers during the summer months. To the artist they have a sense of waiting due to their slow growth and they speak of rarity as they are incredibly difficult to propagate.
