As children, we could lie on our backs, stare at the sky and let our minds wander. There didn’t have to be a reason for anything. We could simply imagine.
I wanted to capture that feeling in this oil painting. The little girl is painted in soft sepia tones, while flowers, a teacup and a paper boat float above her. I chose these everyday objects because, in a child’s imagination, even the ordinary can become extraordinary.
I hope this painting reminds people of the simple pleasure of daydreaming, and perhaps encourages them to do a little more of it.
