In the winter of my Life 2

This series of 3 unique monotypes titled: “In the winter of my Life 1, 2 and 3” were very personal works to me. I am at an age where I am tasting the winter of my seasons: the nest is empty, the husband has retired, the things that were all important have faded into the background. Mundane things make up most of the day and joy is to be found in the simple things life has to offer. I was inspired to create this feeling on paper when we moved to a rural area from the city at the end of 2025. Away from the bustling city noise and the distractions of a busy lifestyle, I slowed down. I appreciated starting a rose garden, picking nuts from my own trees, making supper with what grows in the garden. Appreciating the sun that rises every day and the darkness of night that promises rest. My hope is that these 3 works will speak of tranquility and peace and slowing down and also of reflection.
I cut the figurine and underwear on the washing line from an empty milk carton for the printing process and the plants came from the garden. The landscape was drawn with ink pens which I also used to create texture in certain areas. Lastly I couldn’t resist my faithful and well loved graphite!
