This work is about the vulnerability of the human body which is shown through the almost “helplessness” of the position of the falling figure. Note the arms are loose and accepting of the fall; the head is down and eyes closed which means – I’m vulnerable, I’ve stopped fighting – I NEED mercy. We live in a world that falls short on mercy. The bowl symbolises the Mercy – the shape of the bowl says: “I’ll catch you and hold you safe”. The flowers are also a sign of mercy – nature’s own remedy to heal the soul.
